Valentine’s Stick & Stitch & Feather Stitch Tutorial

Create heartfelt, handmade stitches with this Valentine’s Day embroidery pattern, featuring 21 unique stick-and-stitch embroidery designs perfect for celebrating love, friendship, and handmade gifting.

This digital embroidery pattern download includes charming birds, flowers, and romantic floral designs with hearts, designed to be easy to transfer and fun to stitch. These patterns are ideal for beginner to intermediate embroiderers and work beautifully for seasonal décor, gifts, hoops, and keepsakes.

For this pattern, you can use many of the beginner stitches, such as back stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, leaf stitch. For this particular heart design, I did a back stitch for the heart, and a running stitch to connect the dots for the inner heart. I went with a french knot for the outer dots.

For the scalloped edge, I used a feather stitch. Just be careful not to pull to tightly, or it will look more pointed (like my initial stitches did)

Using feather stitch to make the scalloped edge of heart.
